About Larissa Schmock

I'm an artist in Marquette, Michigan. I was born and raised in a small town in northwest Wisconsin. Art has been an interest of mine since I was very young and I've consistently pursued artistic endeavors growing up, exploring art in primarily acrylic and oil formats. I also really enjoy creating detailed line work with ink.

In 2020, I graduated with a bachelor's degree in geography and environmental science. In pursuit of a career, I landed in Marquette, working for the Michigan Department of Environment Great Lakes, and Energy. Whenever I have free time, I'm typically painting and enjoying the outdoors.

Artist Statement

The best part of creating art is sharing it with others. In my artistic practice, I draw inspiration from the beauty in nature, the weird corners of my imagination, or the dynamic interplay of color and form seen in everyday life. My work, rendered primarily in acrylic paint, oil paint, or ink,  stems from an intense urge to create and capture moments of beauty or ideas. I am constantly experimenting with styles and subject matter, which is evident in the various types of work I have produced.
